Creating A 2D Flag

This tutorial teaches you how to create a 2d flag in Adobe Photoshop.

Set-up

Download this example.psd file.

Flag

This technique can be used to make any type of flag.

Step one - Open the example.psd file.

Step two - Select the layer flag. Go to edit>transform>wrap.

Step three - Set the wrap mode to flag and set the blend percentage to 21.

Step four - Go to the burn brush.

Burn (shade) the sections of the flag.

Step five - Go to edit>transform>scale, and shrink the size of the flag.

Step six - Draw a straight line (hold the shift key and drag downwards with your mouse with the brush tool).

Step seven - Go to layer>layer style>drop shadow... Set the size to 8 and press OK.

Step eight - Go to edit>transform>rotate. Set the angle to -21.0 degrees.

Step nine - Go to layer>duplicate layer... Call it flag two.

Step ten - Go to edit>transform>flip horizontal.

Step eleven - Go to edit>free transform and move it into position.
